AUSA... One Voice for Today's Army

Since 1950, the Association of the United States Army has worked to support all aspects of national security while advancing the interests of America's Army and the men and women who serve.

AUSA is a private, non-profit educational organization that supports America's Army - Active, National Guard, Army Reserve, Government Civilians, Retirees, Veterans, disabled Veterans, family members and civilians.

Our Mission

AUSA represents every American Soldier by:
  • Being the voice for all components of America's Army
  • Fostering public support of the Army's role in national security
  • Providing professional education and information programs

Our Vision

As the premier voice for America's Soldiers, we are a dedicated team committed to building the best professional and representative association for the world's best Army.

Our Values

  • Excellence
  • Inclusiveness
  • Innovation
  • Integrity
  • Professionalism
  • Responsiveness

When you join AUSA, your visibility on Capitol Hill is assured through our Government Affairs Office. Your membership amplifies AUSA's ability to serve as the voice for the Army - through congressional testimony, Hill visits, and grassroots lobbying. AUSA continually educates members of Congress and their staffs about critical issues.

Many of AUSA's top legislative objectives have been realized in recent Congressional legislation. They include:
  • Legislation protecting servicemembers from predatory lenders;
  • Increasing active Army end strength;
  • Significantly increasing active component recruiting and retention funding;
  • Prohibiting for two years any studies proposing commissary privatizations;
  • Maintaining Federal Impact Aid funding to schools;
  • Fully funding Army reset requirements; and
  • Enhancing life insurance benefits.
AUSA will build on these accomplishments, while continuing to urge the Administration and Congress to address such issue as:
  • Increasing funded active Army end strength by an additional 100,000;
  • Funding pay raises at levels that close the pay comparability gap between the military and private sector by 2008; and
  • Providing adequate funding to ensure continued access to qualify health care for all beneficiaries and to preclude the imposition of user fees.

Local Community Involvement

AUSA has chapters located worldwide. Made up entirely of volunteers, they provide recreational and educational opportunities to Soldiers and their families. Most importantly, they support our deployed Soldiers and their families who are left behind. Your membership will automatically enroll you in a chapter. AUSA urges you to become involved immediately to receive full advantage of your membership.

Grassroots support for America's Army can only come when people know and understand the value of the Army to the nation. AUSA accomplishes this through its various departments and chapters.

AUSA's Institute of Land Warfare educates decision-makers and the general public through its national issues conferences, Regional Defense Forums, special reports, background briefs, and research papers.

Every October, AUSA's annual meeting brings together Army leaders and corporate decision-makers at the largest show of its kind. Soldiers and civilians can walk through the exhibit halls to view state-of-the-art equipment as well as attend seminars and luncheons to hear the latest issues affecting the Army. Industry Affairs hosts a monthly breakfast that highlights such speakers as the Army Chief of Staff and other prominent leaders.

Family Issues

AUSA's Family Programs directorate is uniquely positioned to articulate and support the interests of all Army families. AUSA is committed to supporting the families that are left behind during deployments.

Professional Benefits

AUSA wants to become your professional association. As an Army professional, you need to keep current on issues that affect you in the work place. AUSA is the only association in existence that offers educational materials and events designed specifically to educate you about these issues.

ARMY Magazine, the Association's monthly professional journal, provides past, present, and future perspectives on an array of strategic and tactical subjects as well as providing operational and systems hardware information of interest to current Army professionals.

Each year, AUSA publishes the ARMY GREEN BOOK, an almanac of information that should be on every professional's bookshelf. Plus, AUSA News keeps members up-to-date with articles and commentary on major Army topics and AUSA's efforts at the national level, on Capitol Hill, and in local chapters.

Professional books, special reports, programs, defense forums, and other educational materials are provided by AUSA's Institute of Land Warfare.
